If walkers are not reccommended for infants what about a jumperoo?
I was going to get a walker for my son who is 3 months old but a lot of people say not to...would a jumperoo be better?? How about an excersaucer?

Doctors still recommend jumperoos and exersaucers (or at least mine does). Have fun.

The Exersaucer and the Jumperoo are fantastic, because while the baby gets lots of motion and exercise, they are also safely in one place.
With a walker, they can wander around everywhere, but don’t understand danger…stairs are obviously the biggest concern, but they can also bump into lots of things, knock them over, etc.
Walkers are illegal here in Canada. It’s even illegal to give one away if you happen to still have one from before the ban was put in place. It’s illegal to bring one in from the US, illegal to sell one at a garage sale…too many bad accidents have happened.
My 7 mo old loves both her exersaucer and jumperoo. She has a ball in them. She is starting to prefer the jumperoo over the exersaucer now that she is more mobile and can stand slightly, but both are good. The walker i’ve yet to hear anything good on them.
3 months is kind of young for these but I am pretty sure I used them all once my boys could sit on their own. You really have to still watch them with these though. Just because they are sitting in a toy that doesn’t allow them to move very far doesn’t mean something can’t still happen….especially in a jumperoo that hangs from a door. They can get caught in the straps. And if you use a walker make sure you still have a guard on your stairs.
My son used both and loved them.
jumperoos and exersaucers are fine!!!
the problem w/ walkers is the false sense of security, teaching, and developmental inapporopriateness. they think they’re walking, but are not, cannot see their feet, and don’t use the right muscles to learn how to walk! in these stationary things, they get to sort of be on a trampoline w/ some toys. they know they’re not moving around.
my mom had bought a walker at a resale shop for my daughter, I refused it, she kept it at her house, the next time I saw it at her house, I took a screwdriver and removed the wheels. it turned into more of a highchair!!!
I use walkers and jumperoo’s, I think that if you limit their time in the walker it’s ok. They can’t really get hip problems if they’re only in it like 30 min a day. Both my son’s loved the jumperoo! I don’t know n-e other way they would learn the fundamentals to walk with out using the walker some!
I used both. I used the jumperoo when I wanted my kids to play but in one spot instead of walking around. I didn’t have an excersaucer so I am not sure about them. As for walkers. They are not recommended because parents were not watching their kids while they were in them and then they fell down the steps. As long as you watch your child and have gates up around the steps then I don’t see a problem with them. They do have a walker, Jumper, and a walk behind at buy buy baby. I am not sure how well it works but it looks neat. Here is the link:

If you don’t want that then I recommend the jumperoo. My children absolutely loved it. my son is 11 months old and I still put him in it when I am going to take a shower. I put him right by the bathroom and that way I know he is safe and he is playing too. Not all jumperoos hang from the doorway. I do not recommend those because my daughter was in my friends when she was a baby and she twirled around and hit her head really hard on the doorway. If you get a jumperoo I recommend the ones that are stationary. They don’t have the one that my kids have since it is over 3 years old. but here is one that is almost like the one that my kids used.
