Most, anyone that uses a walker/rollator that can ambulate...a few steps, across the room or down the hall, and is unable too occasionally or consistently sit/stand on their own. Within the rehab department, in a controlled environment, teaching the person to sit/stand on their own in a traditional manner and obtaining as much independence as possible is the goal. We also believe it is important that the caregiver encourage the resident to sit/stand on their own, however, if the resident needs lifting assistance, it is unsafe and unwise to expect caregivers to use manual lifting methods risking themselves and the resident during everyday care. It is far safer and dignified for both parties to use the LiftWalker™ versus manual lifting methods.
