There are special wheelchair beech chairs especially for this purpose. See if where you are going have them - or if there is somewhere nearby you can rent them. When I used to go to the beach and could walk better, I used used of those walking sticks for wet ground that has one of those circular plates near the bottom and a pointed end. The beach sand still swallowed up some of it - but not nearly as bad.
Since you refer to the sea, I imagine you are in the UK. So check out: http://www.altonmobilityservices.co.uk/deBugandLandeez.html
This is not what I used, but the pic shows the ground plate. It is for use on soft grass. http://www.amazon.com/traditionally-watching-spectator-facilitates-Available/dp/B001ES8WM0
This is not what I used - but looks like it might work: http://www.walkingcaneonline.com/product/HC32030
