what are the disadvantages of horse walkers?
i am looking up horse walkers for my yard and want to know what are the disadvantages of them i know that they are good and all but i want to know what is bad about them!

They aren't very safe, if you're talking about the ones that just have big metal arms with lead ropes at the end. If a horse decided it didn't like the horse behind it, things would get pretty messy. Or if a horse doesn't understand why it's trying to make it walk, and pulls back.

Disadvantages:
~ If one horse in the line wanted out, they could pull and jerk the other horses around.
~ If a horse was upset with the horse behind him, he could kick and all and the other horse wouldn’t be able to fight back, and could get beat up. Plus they would both be freaking out but they could hurt themselves because they can’t get out of the walker if they need to.
~ If a horse spooks, they can’t honor their fight or flight method. They can’t run away like they typically would do and they can’t make fight back or rear up without hurting themselves.
~ For horses, it doesn’t take much to get hurt. So to put such high strung animals in such a restricting device is not a good idea.

well for one its a little boring. I mean can you imagine walking around in circles for ages? you also just dont get the kind of excersise you do from riding or lungeing as they cant go faster then a walk. Another point is that if there is lots of horses in one walker and if one doesnt like the other things can get a little nasty. Its also dangerous should a horse spook.
I think everyone else covered it pretty well.
But I wanted to mention that I have seen the one’s with gates behind them rather than being tied, and they seem a lot safer!
